Speak out about mental illness

Living with a mental illness isn't easy but there is one major thing you can do to make it so much easier. Speak out about mental illness!

Ask for help, share how you feel with friends, family and professions and be honest say I am not ok.

It is ok to admit it and as soon as you do you can start getting the help you need. I'm not saying when you do speak out it will all be fixed immediately but it is the start of your road to recovery!

I had some pretty dark thoughts in 2017 and didn't value my life at all. Sometimes I talked far too much during a high mood I will admit. But the other side of the coin for me is low mood were I would bottle everything in and felt there was no hope, no future for me. As soon as I shared my negative thoughts instead of overthinking them internally I got all the help, right advice and support I needed to be on my road to recovery. I was able to think positively again and finally realise at 25 years young I have my whole life ahead of me and I want to make it a good one!

I know how hard it can feel to be able to speak out about your mental illness. You may worry what others may think and worry about the stigma on mental illness. Take the step though, speak out "Be who you are and say how you feel because those that mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" Dr Seuss. Those who really love you unconditionally will care for you always no matter what. They are the people you want and need in your life.

Speak out and honesty is always the best policy!

Spreading the love

Now I have fought for my fitness I want to spread the love and give back!

I recently found out about MQ mental health, which is a mental health charity that swears to take on mental illness. Here is the link to their website where I have signed the petition to help them take on mental illness.
https://www.mqmentalhealth.org/we-swear

You could sign the petition too if feel strongly about helping people deal with mental illness. Via the website you can also donate, as a one off or as a monthly contribution, to help the research and treatment for mental health illnesses excel. They hope to improve treatment and one day make mental illness preventable.

In the future I hope to fund raise, spread awareness and improve understanding about mental health. So watch this space for more on how I intend to do so, perhaps with a little help from some of you.

Join the fight...

Well it has taken me 8 months but I have finally fought for my fitness against My Bipolar disorder. I know I have claimed this before but this time it is for real: I have now been well for almost 2 months. No more rapid cycling every 2 weeks.

Last year I wanted to die. This year all I want to do is live!

I know I am not alone in this fight for fitness against mental health illnesses. So if you are suffering or know someone who is I ask you to:

Join the fight... Spread the love.
